Frequently Asked Questions

If you are experiencing pain or difficulty with movement you will benefit from a full physiotherapy assessment to identify the cause and figure out the best treatment plan. Sometimes your physiotherapist will refer you on to a doctor if they think a more in depth medical evaluation needs to take place alongside physiotherapy treatment.

During your first appointment your physiotherapist will spend some time talking to you to understand what your problem is, what your goals are and what the best way is to work together for you to achieve your goals. Based on your answers your physiotherapist will carry out a physical examination which will help to understand what is causing your problem, provide a diagnosis and provide you with a personalised treatment plan. All treatments will involve some sort of exercise as the fundamental underlying principle of achieving optimal physical health, alongside hands on treatments such as acupuncture, manual therapy and sports massage.

No. Whilst a doctor may refer you to physiotherapy, it isn’t always necessary to get a referral. When a doctor refers you to physiotherapy it is because physiotherapists are experts in the field of musculoskeletal and orthopaedic health. So if you have a problem that seems to be affecting your physical health it is usually best to waste no time and book an appointment with your physiotherapist first. If there is still a need for a medical evaluation your physiotherapist will inform you of this and advise that you go to your Doctor.

How long is a piece of string. This depends on many different factors including your physical ability, the severity of your issue, your engagement with treatment and your goals. Rest assured your physiotherapist will use their expertise to make the recovery process as time effective as possible, resulting in the best outcomes in the shortest amount of time possible, based on your individual circumstances. On average a course of physiotherapy treatment lasts 5-8 sessions in order to achieve recovery above and beyond pre-injury state.

What My Patients Say

Dena treated me after a fatal accident. I'm a professional athlete who trains 15-20 hours a week, and one day I was shut down for two months. From the moment I started treatment with Dina, I improved significantly from session to session. I got back to training and even competing, getting on the triathlon podium again and training as hard as in the good old days. Dena brought back my confidence through her professional treatment and made me believe that I can get back to myself. Thanks for everything!

I've been receiving Physiotherapy treatment with Dena for over a month now on a daily basis (5 times per week) for 90mins sessions. Dena is helping me recover mobility and strength after suffering a brain stroke. Dena is very knowledgeable and patient, but also she encourages you to sweat and keep high spirits throughout the session, while maintaining the right level of effort. Dena listens to the patient's needs, and understands the illness to the best level and prepares a physiotherapy treatment adequate for each individual. I will continue with Dena for several more weeks, and can't recommend any other expert as good as she is.

I came to Dena for physiotherapy for a problem with my leg which was causing me a lot of pain especially when running. I had already seen 2 physiotherapist who didn't help me but Dena diagnosed me with Achilles tendinitis straight away and explained everything to me, giving me a great rehab program to do myself outside of physiotherapy appointments and knew exactly when to push me to make my recovery faster. Would highly recommend Dena for any aches or pains or if you want to get better and stronger at your sport.
