Job Description

We are looking to hire an experienced Stage Manager for our two 2026 shows. Ideally, candidates would be available for both shows but we will consider applications for a specific show. There is a stipend for this role.

Our shows are at the Kranzberg Black Box Theatre:

• Wasp by Morgan Lloyd Malcolm June 12 28
• The Birds by Conor McPherson Oct 16 Nov 1

Rehearsals begin around May 4, move-in June 2 for Wasp.

Rehearsals begin around Sept 1, move-in Oct 6 for The Birds.

Knowledge and Personal Qualities

Good understanding of small theater operations, especially backstage and technical demands.

Excellent planning, implementation and people skills.

A focus on results but coupled with a concern for safety and security.

Key Duties

• Rehearsals: prepare the rehearsal space, record blocking and technical cues, assist with prompting and line notes, provide and manage rehearsal props.
• Safety and security: ensure the safety of all participants at the rehearsal and performance space, and the security of the rehearsal and performance spaces.
• Performance space preparation: ensure performance and dressing room spaces are safe and clean with all props organized, costumes and supplies in place.
• Tech week: coordinate with director and technical staff to make sure there is a clean run and follow up on any technical issues.
• Performances: coordinate with front of house to call places and run show.
• Strike: develop a strike plan with technical staff, including painting of the floor and other requirements provided by Kranzberg.
